February Western Camp

On this unique 3 day/2night film expedition the MadHatters Film Comp will be heading West to the world famous (featured in ‘The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, A Fist Full of Dollars, Dr Who and many more). The Mad Hatters Film Camp is a fun hands on filmmaking experience where students are involved in all aspects of film production from acting, directing, editing, special + visual effects, camera work, finishing with a professionally edited movie. The course will focus on narrative film production where students will have an opportunity to act and direct their very own short film; so they will make their own short movie and will cover the different aspect of filmmaking in the process. The students will learn the basics of how to operate industry standard equipment, sound, camera and final cut editing software. They will learn the conventions of constructing an effective narrative, the meanings and uses of different shots, camera movements, record sound, direct and act to screen. However, fundamental to our approach is that students have a fun, hands on extraordinary educational experience, where students ‘learn by doing’. The goal is inspire kids to be creative, to develop their communication skills, work a team, take risks, be courageous, the way we do these is through filmmaking. These are key tools students can apply to whatever field they decide to pursue, educationally, professionally and personally.
